Small-business technology support is often reactive by necessity. A computer stops working, an update fails, or an application begins behaving strangely—and only then does someone call for help. That approach can work, but it also means a minor maintenance issue may go unnoticed until it interrupts the workday.
Redbeard Solutions LLC is introducing a Managed IT service built for small businesses and independent professionals that need dependable computer oversight without the cost or complexity of a large internal IT department.
What Proactive Support Changes
Managed IT adds a routine layer of care between emergency service calls. Instead of waiting for a problem to become visible, we can monitor whether enrolled computers are checking in, identify missing or failed updates, review hardware and software inventory, and see maintenance concerns that deserve attention.
This does not eliminate every technical problem, and no responsible provider should promise that it will. It creates better visibility, a repeatable maintenance process, and a faster path to assistance when something does go wrong.
What the Service Can Include
Each plan is matched to the customer’s environment, but the core Managed IT service can include:
- Managed Windows and supported third-party application updates
- Monitoring for missing patches, failed installations, and pending restarts
- Hardware and software inventory for enrolled computers
- Visibility into known software vulnerabilities and available remediation
- Secure remote-access capability for authorized troubleshooting
- Software deployment and routine maintenance automation when appropriate
- Technology lifecycle and replacement planning
- Local on-site assistance when an issue cannot be resolved remotely
Powered by Action1, Managed by Redbeard
We use Action1 (opens in a new tab) as the cloud-based endpoint-management platform behind this service. It provides centralized patch management, device and software inventory, vulnerability visibility, automation, and browser-based remote assistance for supported endpoints.
The customer is not simply paying for access to a software tool. Redbeard Solutions configures the environment, separates customer devices appropriately, reviews maintenance results, applies practical update policies, responds to support requests, and helps turn the information in the platform into sensible technology decisions.
A Careful Approach to Updates
Installing every available update immediately is not always the safest choice. Business computers may depend on accounting programs, printers, VPN clients, estimating tools, or other specialized software that deserves extra care.
Our approach begins with a baseline review and a working backup. Update policies can prioritize important security fixes, allow time for broadly reported problems to surface, avoid drivers and major operating-system upgrades unless specifically approved, and provide users with advance notice when a restart is required. Unfamiliar or business-critical applications can remain under manual review.
Remote Help When You Need It
For enrolled Windows computers, secure remote access allows many common issues to be investigated without waiting for an on-site appointment. When someone is actively using the computer, connection settings can require the user to approve the session. When remote assistance is not practical, Redbeard Solutions can schedule local on-site service.
Remote troubleshooting is billed separately from routine management so customers pay for the support they actually use rather than subsidizing an unlimited help desk they may not need.
Clear Starting Prices
Managed IT plans start at $35 per managed computer per month. The monthly fee covers the agreed monitoring, maintenance administration, and management of enrolled computers; it does not include unlimited repair labor.
- Remote troubleshooting: $90 per hour, with a 30-minute minimum
- On-site service: $150 for the first hour
- Additional on-site time: $100 per hour
Initial setup and the final monthly price depend on the number of computers, the condition of the environment, and the level of support the business wants. We define that scope before work begins so the customer understands what is included.
Who This Is For
This service is designed for small businesses, independent professionals, and organizations that rely on Windows computers but are not ready for a large, all-inclusive managed-services contract. It is especially useful for teams that want consistent maintenance, a clearer picture of their equipment, and a trusted local person to call when technology gets in the way.
